Origin

Peter Quill first appeared in Marvel Preview #4 in January 1976, created by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan. The character was a comparatively obscure cosmic-Marvel figure for thirty years before Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's Annihilation arcs in the 2000s placed him at the center of a reorganized Guardians of the Galaxy team.

Comic history

Star-Lord's modern profile is almost entirely built on Abnett-Lanning's 2008 Guardians run and the 2014 James Gunn film. The character became a Hollywood property before he was a comics property in any meaningful contemporary sense. The Rivals version uses the cinematic red-coat-and-helmet design.

Star-Lord in Marvel Rivals

Star-Lord is a 250 HP Duelist whose kit is built around twin-pistol pressure. Element Guns are the dual-wielded primary attack. Rocket Propulsion is the boost-mobility tool — he hovers and dashes in short bursts rather than flying like Iron Man. The skill ceiling is in pistol micro-management; the guns reload independently and reward target-switching across cooldowns.

Abilities

Element Guns are the dual primary. Stellar Shift is the dodge. Blaster Barrage is the AOE option. Rocket Propulsion is the mobility. Galactic Legend, his ultimate, is a long-range twin-pistol burst that auto-targets nearby enemies in a wide arc.

Spotting Star-Lord in Rivaldle

Star-Lord's Hazel eye color is shared only with Spider-Man, which makes that field a strong narrowing column in Classic Mode. The red-and-blue helmet is the Pixelation tell. In Emoji Mode the music note is a deliberate nod to the films' use of mixtapes — the cue lands harder for film viewers than for comic readers.

Try the puzzle

Star-Lord is a possible answer in every Rivaldle mode. The fastest way to spot them is usually a combination of two columns in Classic Mode plus a quick read of the silhouette or pixelation. Once you get a feel for the database fingerprints — the unique species cell, the unique origin year, the unique HP value — most heroes can be solved in two or three guesses.
