Origin

Jeff the Land Shark first appeared in West Coast Avengers #7 in March 2019, created by Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru. He is a small terrestrial shark adopted by Gwenpool, and his entire publishing existence is structured around the joke that he is the cutest character Marvel has ever published.

Comic history

Jeff has appeared primarily in West Coast Avengers, Gwenpool Strikes Back, and his own miniseries by Kelly Thompson. He is one of the youngest characters in the database and one of the most overtly comic-relief-coded heroes in Marvel Rivals — his entire kit is built around the joke that you are healing teammates by being adorable.

Jeff the Land Shark in Marvel Rivals

Jeff the Land Shark is a 250 HP Strategist whose kit is built around mobility-based healing. Healing Bubble is the deployable heal. Joyful Splash is the AoE damage option. Hide and Seek is the survivability tool. The kit rewards aggressive forward play; he heals more by being in the front line than by being behind it.

Abilities

Joyful Splash is the damage tool. Aqua Burst is the burst alternative. Healing Bubble is the deployable. Hide and Seek is the disengage. Oblivious Cuteness is the buff. It's Jeff!, his ultimate, is the now-iconic move where he scoops up enemies and swallows them — high-skill, high-reward, and high-comedy.
