Origin

Peter Parker first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August 1962, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The character was almost not published — Lee's editor Martin Goodman thought spiders were too off-putting for a hero — and the original run was an experiment that became the bestselling Marvel title for decades.

Comic history

Spider-Man's defining runs are too numerous to list compactly. The Stan Lee and Ditko years built the foundation. Roger Stern's 1980s run is the modern reference point. Brian Michael Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man reframed the character for a new generation. Dan Slott's 2000s and 2010s tenure introduced the Spider-Verse concept that Rivals leans on for affiliation. The Rivals model uses a classic blue-and-red Peter Parker.

Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals

Spider-Man is a 250 HP Duelist with the highest mobility in the role. Web-Swing and Wall Crawl let him cover ground faster than anyone else, and his combo damage is built around chaining web pulls into melee burst. The skill ceiling is in chaining mobility — players who swing only between fights underperform; players who swing during fights and hit Get Over Here! pulls on enemy back-line targets dominate.

Abilities

Spider-Power is the basic. Cyber-Web Cluster is the AoE option. Thwip and Flip is the close-range disengage. Get Over Here! pulls a target toward him for a melee setup. Spectacular Spin, his ultimate, is a movement-tied AOE that rewards dive timing.

Spotting Spider-Man in Rivaldle

Spider-Man is unmistakable in every visual mode — red and blue palette, web pattern, the spider emblem. In Classic Mode his Hazel eye color is unique to him and Star-Lord, and the Spider-Verse affiliation narrows the answer to two heroes (Spider-Man and Peni Parker). His 1962 origin separates him from Peni's 2014 immediately.

Try the puzzle

Spider-Man is a possible answer in every Rivaldle mode. The fastest way to spot them is usually a combination of two columns in Classic Mode plus a quick read of the silhouette or pixelation. Once you get a feel for the database fingerprints — the unique species cell, the unique origin year, the unique HP value — most heroes can be solved in two or three guesses.
