Origin
Bucky Barnes' Winter Soldier identity was retroactively introduced in Ed Brubaker's Captain America #1 (vol. 5) in 2005, but the original Bucky character debuted in Captain America Comics #1 in 1941, alongside Steve Rogers. That is why his Rivaldle origin year is 1941 rather than 2005 — the field tracks the character's first comic appearance, and Bucky is just as old as Cap.
Comic history
Brubaker's Captain America run is one of the most acclaimed Marvel runs of the modern era, and the Winter Soldier reveal is its central moment. The character has since been a Captain America in his own right (during Steve's death arc), an Avenger, and a frequent espionage-genre lead. The Sebastian Stan film performances inform the cinematic-coded Rivals design.
Winter Soldier in Marvel Rivals
Winter Soldier is a 275 HP Duelist whose kit is built around mid-range pressure and the bionic arm. Bionic Hook is the gap-closer. Roterstern (German for 'red star') is the burst tool. Trooper's Fist is the close-range melee. The kit rewards mixing ranges; he is the Duelist most punished by committing to a single distance and most rewarded by switching mid-fight.
Abilities
Roterstern is the burst rifle. Bionic Hook is the pull-in. Tainted Voltage is the AoE. Trooper's Fist is the melee. Ceaseless Charge is the mobility. Kraken Impact, the ultimate, is a powered-arm slam that knocks back and damages an area. Infinite Grit is the ult variant that rewards committed positioning.

Spotting Winter Soldier in Rivaldle
The 1941 origin year is shared only with Captain America in this database — that single field, with an HP-down arrow, distinguishes Winter Soldier (275 HP) from Captain America (675 HP) instantly. The bionic arm is the silhouette tell. In Pixelation Mode the gray-and-blue palette is recognizable.
Try the puzzle
Winter Soldier is a possible answer in every Rivaldle mode. The fastest way to spot them is usually a combination of two columns in Classic Mode plus a quick read of the silhouette or pixelation. Once you get a feel for the database fingerprints — the unique species cell, the unique origin year, the unique HP value — most heroes can be solved in two or three guesses.
